dah lama nak tulis a long post pasal mental health, dah lama simpan but because i dont have the guts to speak about it until now. so what is mental illness? i dont want to give the definition here because you can google that one :D it will lead you to different definition haha but basically what i wanted to talk about is how important mental health is. i can not emphasize enough how mental illness is as serious as physical illness. if it's not treated, chances are you will get more illness.
but our society believe that mental illness is something "normal". something that is make up by people. something that is unreal. but believe it or not. it is real. & it is one of the most common illness in our society now. how many people actually suffer from anxiety/bipolar/depression but act like they're fine? countless. it's because of the fear of what people might say, or the stigma that those people are "crazy" ,"attention seeker" or "too emotional", they kept quiet. they kept quiet. and do you how it feels to keep quiet about it? it's like having a physical illness but you didnt take ur medicine because people say you'll recover anyway. i mean imagine if that illness is cancer? Yes. painful, hard, tough. but people still think that mental illness is just a mindset. mental illness is something that will fade away "you just need to read more" ," dont think about it", or by simply say "you'll be fine".
i just hope that i can reach out to those who suffer from mental illness. i want them to know that you are acknowledged. you are important. i know exactly how it feels to suffer from those anxiety and panic attacks. i know how disappointing it feels when your family or friends can't understand your situation. but because ive experienced a lot, and i dont want people to experience the same thing, please if you're suffering from those illness, please, seek help. you need to. dont keep it on your own. if you dont have a person to talk to, feel free to talk to me. i am eager to help!
or even if you know a friend who is depressed, lend them a help. they might say they are fine, but ask them, encourage them to open up. make them comfortable. or the least you can do to them is to be with them, and give some comfort. if you saw their Whatsapp status, default picture or even tweets are emotional and upset, that's actually them trying to seek help but they just dont know how. honestly everytime i saw anyone on my timeline sounds depressed, i really want to help them because i know how terrifying it was to have those "episode" by urself. i dont even know if my family/friends had this kind of illness, but if u read this, know that i'll be there for you.
somedays you are fine. you're productive, everything is great. but some days can be so terrible. u gotta face those panic attacks out of nowhere. even when you're watching movies, or enjoying ur "me" time, (even attending lectures!), panic attacks may hit you. you suddenly feel as if u can't breathe, your whole body is shaking, but you remain still, you act like things were alright. (because u were afraid of what people might say) but inside your body, it's like a battle. between your body and your mind. your mind says you were fine but your body reaction is like you'll be getting some troubles. you had this intense fear out of nothing. i know that might sound ridiculous but that's what it is.
but of course, it can get better. it can. but it wont disappear just like that. so dont just tell them to "suck it up", "motivate yourself", "you're just exaggerating". it wasnt that easy. i really hope this post can bring some benefit even if it's to one person, ill be very grateful. remember, you are important. and you are loved. *virtual hugs* *for girls jela* *well thats pretty obvious* haha
p/s : shout out to those who remain silent about their illness. you surely, a strong one! ( but still, love yourself & get some help!)
and ps : English is not my mother tongue so please excuse any errors on my part. thanks (;
